Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
As we hit the middle part of June, there seems to be a collective sigh that occurs throughout the parish community. And it’s not without reason! School has finished for the summer, many of us are looking forward to upcoming vacations, and our biggest community event of the year, the Carnival, has just concluded. That said, it’s still important acknowledge the great things that we’ve just gone through and what lies ahead in the coming months.
And so, first and foremost, I want to take a moment to thank each and everyone who helped with this year’s Carnival! As always, it was a huge success and the revenue it generates goes a LONG way in allowing us to keep school tuition affordable for our families, to make necessary improvements to our facilities, and even help supplement the salaries of the faculty and staff. It is a tremendous undertaking and I’ve witnessed so much hard work and dedication this year and every year, from putting it up, to running the booths and food areas, to all the behind the scenes stuff that happens, it’s absolutely amazing the amount of hard work and dedication that is on display. To each and every volunteer, my heartfelt thanks for your efforts and for your willingness to help our community in this way. Without you, the Carnival wouldn’t happen!
In terms of something new, I want to take this opportunity to formally introduce our new principal for the school year ahead to the parish community. As a bit of context, the current principal, Mr. Jeffrey Johnson, will be moving on to be the new Headmaster at St. Mary School in Middletown, NJ. In doing so, he will be working much closer to home, eliminating his 80-minute commute, as he lives in Middletown as well. Luckily, the Superintendent for the Diocese was able to recommend a highly qualified replacement to me, and after initial conversations, a visit to the school, and a formal interview with various stakeholders, the position of principal was offered and accepted by Mrs. Tracey Kobrin, who brings with her nine years of experience as a Catholic School principal, and over 20 years of experience overall in Catholic Education. I’m excited to be working with Mrs. Kobrin and trust that she will be an excellent educational leader for our school community for years to come. She will officially begin at St. Charles on July 1 st .
While it’s nice to get the Carnival in the books, it’s also good to have things to look forward to as well! I hope that wherever your summer takes you, whether it’s down the shore, or on a road-trip, or even just around town, that it proves to be a restful and relaxing one. That way, we can all continue to build up the Kingdom of God here in our parish and in our families, mindful of the presence of God always in our lives!
Peace and Goodness,
Fr. Dan
